Covid US pressing issues discussed from a medical and a modelling perspective (strains in the US, projections, vaccines rollout status, reinfection and any other topic relevant at the end of May...). And what can we expect next?

This session will be followed by a Q&A and informal discussion with our speakers.

Neil Franklin: started his career in the insurance market in 1987 as an underwriter in the London market moving to Reinsurance in 1991. In 1996 he moved to reinsurance broking with what is now Aon and shortly thereafter moved to Miami in 1997 to set up the treaty department which acted as part of the Latin American Division managing the development of placements of locally produced business in the Miami Reinsurance Market. In 2003, Neil moved to Willis as a producer responsible for the design of large and complex placements before moving to Scor Miami as an underwriter in 2013, finally joining Underwriting Management in Paris in 2017.

Andrew Hallsworth: is a Global Pricing Actuary at SCOR where he has worked since 2017. He develops and shares pricing methods and expertise, manages operational risk in pricing, and performs pricing referrals primarily on US and Canadian business. During the COVID-19 pandemic, Andrew has been responsible for the epidemiological model for the US inforce team.Prior to working at SCOR Andrew worked extensively in pricing and product development. He is a Fellow of the Society of Actuaries and a member of the American Academy of Actuaries. He earned a master's degree in mathematics from the University of Florida and a bachelor's degree in mathematics from the University of the West Indies.

William R. Rooney: Dr. Rooney is Vice President and medical director for SCOR Life Reinsurance. His office is located in Leawood, Kansas. He graduated from the University of Missouri—Kansas City School of Medicine and the Research Medical Center Residency program in Kansas City. He is board certified and a fellow in Family Medicine. He obtained his executive MBA from Benedictine College. He was in private practice medicine for 20 years. He has been in the re/insurance field as a medical director for 16 years, the last 9 years with SCOR Global Life. He is a member of the American Academy of Insurance Medicine, is currently the chairman of the AAIM’s Education Committee and as such sits on AAIM’s executive committee. In addition, he has served as past president of the Midwestern Medical Directors Association. He has written several articles for industry publications and is a frequent industry conference speaker on a variety of medical and underwriting topics.
